Eurobarometer - publication of spring 2013 figures


The European Commission’s public opinion service Eurobarometer published its spring survey on 23 July. More than 32 000 persons across the European Union and candidate countries were interviewed. Several topics were tackled such as EU citizenship feelings and the vision of the crisis. Assessing the perception of Europe 2020 targets, 69% of Europeans considered the need to enhance the quality and appeal of EU’s higher education system as important and 70% to develop new skills and promote entrepreneurship.Source:  EUCIS-LLL-Newsletter August 2013

Call for tender - Open procedure no. VT/2013/041 " Pilot project for the development of a common methodology on reference budgets”



The subject of this contract is to support and promote, through a pilot project, the strengthening of an active inclusion strategy in the European Union, ensuring that all people have the resources necessary to lead a life in dignity. This will be done through the development of a common methodology on reference budgets developed by a network of experts on minimum income and reference budgets (herein after referred to as the "Reference Budget Network"). The network will give an overview on the current state of play on reference budget practices at national, regional, and local level in the EU; analyse them in-depth (including transferability across countries) and draw conclusions on key features (political, methodological and analytical) for the successful use of reference budgets. Based on this analysis, the network of experts will develop a common methodology and reference budgets for the 28 Member States for three types of households (single, one adult with two children, and two adults and two children) for the capital region of each Member State. Deadline of the call: 28th august 2013.

Cities for Active Inclusion final conference


On 25 September, Cities for Active Inclusion will present the main conclusions from the Cities for Active Inclusion research over the last three years as well as the key policy recommendations. A political debate amongst the mayors of the partnership’s cities will be followed by three interactive panel debates that will look at youth employment, demographic change and social return on investment. The cities will present their good practices and alongside European stakeholders will discuss the current policy and challenges ahead.

Euopean social statistics- 2013 edition
The pocketbook European social statistics, intended for both generalists and specialists, provides a comparative overview of the social statistics available in 27 Member States and the Candidate Countries of the European Union, as well as in the EFTA states.
Different areas of the social field are described here by a selection of indicators which are presented in tables and graphs and accompanied by short commentaries. This pocketbook may be viewed as an introduction to European social statistics and provides guidance to the vast range of data freely available from the Eurostat website.

ecdn - European Consumer Debt Network: New edition of Money Matters



The latest edition of the Money Matters has just been released (7 July 2013).The contributors of this issue of the magazine are Hans Dubois, Dieter Korczak, Michael Mulhall, Geert Lankhorst, Celia Tsekeris and Catarina Frade. The articles concern financial education, financial planning tools, overindebtedness prevention and many others. Also included are resources from the 6th conference in Athens.
